We are changing the meeting format to more sharply focus on specific issues.  The police will no longer be attending but will still attend the monthly ANC 2F meetings.  Note you can reach our new PSA Commander  LT. John Kutniewski at 202.359.0914.  John works the day shift.  Email is: John.Kutniewski@dc.gov

This meeting will focus on the changes in Blagden Alley specifically how to manage the increasing businesses coming to Blagden Alley.

We'll address the following areas:
Parking
Trash, trash compactors, trash pick up
Truck Delivery
Valet Parking
Taxi Cabs
General Vehicle Traffic

Use of public space
Other issues, bring them Thursday

We need to come up with our recommendations and a plan to engage the city where necessary.

I will also bring a summary of the timing for all the construction projects, as best I know it.

American and Spirits Drawings in Blagden Alley

From Orestes web site.  Thanks to Dave Ansell of Badwolfdc.blogspot.com who noticed it on the Popville blog.

 http://www.odcstudiollc.com/#!current-projects-/c1j49

Shows renderings for both the American which we all were well aware of and Spirits for which I have no information beyond that on Orestes web site.  Spirits would be in the building across from the American currently occupied by Craig Nelson and his art studio (you can see his art on the building and across the alley on the boxing gym building).  Spirits would be run by RJ Cooper of Rouge 24 and Bryan Tetorakis who is known for creating innovative cocktails.

Dino's Restaurant moving to Shaw from Cleveland Park (1914 9th Street NW)

Hello!

DINO’S GROTTO OPENS END OF APRIL IN SHAW

Chef Owner Dean Gold of DINO Restaurant and Enoteca in DC’s Cleveland Park neighborhood is moving his beloved Italian restaurant across town this spring to the Shaw neighborhood into a row house on 9th St NW, just below U St. The two-story rustic Italian restaurant will be renamed DINO’S GROTTO, and is expected to open before the end of April.

The new establishment will serve approximately 120 people on two floors. The lower level will feature a large communal table alongside a 14 person bar, and table seating for 45. The 1st floor will also feature a 10 person bar and table seating for 50.

A strong believer in “sustainable foods”, Chef Dean Gold’s Italian pastas and dishes are handmade daily of fresh ingredients from local and organic farms, and sustainable fishers & butchers. Dino’s Grotto will also feature local craft brews as well as artisan Italian beers and ciders on tap, and creative cocktails at the hands of master mixologists.

Water Shut off and Connection at Blagden Alley and N Street midnight tonight

Heads up, some of you will have your water shut off tonight and also there will be night work.  This is the new water connection coming up the North South alley of Blagden Alley.  The note below is from Douglas Development.

"DC Water is requiring us to connect our water laterals from La Colombe to the main in N Street, NW tonight starting at 12:00 midnight.

We wanted to do this work during the day - DC Water would not allow us.

I know DC Water has sent out a water interruption notification."

3 ANC Meetings on Wed - CDC Meeting is of most interest to BANCA, see below

At the CDC Meeting on Wed, 7PM, Washington Plaza Hotel, two items of immediate BANCA interest:
1) Plan for the Marriott Hotel Site on Square 367.  This will address the two proposed hotels and apartment buildings on the north side of the 900 block of L Street.  Last version retained the historic properties on 9th Street but demolished both historic townhouses on L Street along with the vacant apartment building - we pushed back on that and the general design.
Estimated time: 7:20PM

2) 1225 10th Street.  This is the vacant lot (where the skinny townhouse once occupied half the lot).  Dan and Anna Kahoe live in the carriage house at the rear.  They have a matter of right to develop three units of housing on that site in addition to their carriage house.  This will be exclusively a review of the proposed facade.  I have not seen the rendering in any detail but know that the developer/architect has been working closely with HPRB.  This is your opportunity to see and comment.  The developer is Philip Simon as S2 Development LLC and the architect is Shawn Buehler.  Estimated time: 8:00PM

NOTE: Below are the draft agendas for three upcoming ANC 2F meetings: the Community Development Committee (CDC), the Crime and Public Safety Committee (CPSC), and the ABRA Policy Committee (APC) meetings, all of which will take place onWednesday, February 19, 2014, 7:00pm.
